SOLE SOLUTION; Getting rid of the salt residue on your shoes!

For those of you who live in cold climates, you know how painful it is to tip toe your precious shoes across the ice patches and the dreadful salt residue that basically eats at them! Ugh! The horror! A friend suggested to me that I should take an old tooth brush, some steam and vinegar to the rescue. So I did! and it worked :) Hold your shoe close to some steam (whether it's a steamer or just running hot water from your faucet); Dip the tooth brush in vinegar and brush away that evil salt.

Good luck!

Fab Sites I Visit Frequently

Here are some of the sites I find myself turning to almost on a daily basis. Whether it's for inspiration from the lookbooks or hunting for some unique staple pieces, they're great.

* Shopbop.com has amazing lookbooks (lots of them) Although their clothes are a bit expensive, I often find similar pieces elsewhere but it gives me great ideas on how to put things together. It doesn't hurt to splurge every once in a while either!

MORE FALL TRENDS AND SOME OF MY FAVS!

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

The Late Alexander McQueen was one of the most talented designers of his time. The fashion world has truly lost a profound brilliant artist. From left, one of his Spring 2010 designs. To the right, a fall 2010 medival inspired gown. Truly works of art!

SUITS

Suits are back in action this season, meaning a dress/skirt--only wardrobe simply won't do! With so many options like shorts instead of pants and feminine touches like ruffles, it's a lot of fun. I like to incorporate feminine undershirts or accessories to masculine looking pieces. Hot colors and prints this season which are seen throughout the runways, red carpets and on street fashionistas are : camels, neutrals, olive tones, grays, animal prints (snakes, leopards), tribal (still hot!), acid florals, ethnic inspired,  reds and brights.

Alice and Olivia
"Suit trend in a modern and young feel. Alice and Olivia is one of my favorite ready-to-wear brands"

CHANEL
"It wouldn't be fair not to include the original women's suit creator CHANEL. Stunning with fur detail."

DOLCE & GABBANA

"A tailored jacket is paired with short shorts for a sexy look."

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

"More short suiting is seen by Ferragamo for fall 2010! I am also loving the socks this season paired with mary janes and even peeping out of boots. Great way to feel warm and tres sheik!

YVES SAINT LAURENT

"More variations of the suit for fall 2010. YSL used a lot of black and ladylike details. I was in awe over the creative chain necklaces that dangled over their skirts, dressed and suits. They were different shapes and cutouts of figures."

RUFFLES

Ruffles were seen across the runways this fall. A trend that has been popping up for the past few years and we just can't get enough. It's always exciting to see what designer will do with ruffles every season. In my opinion it's important to be careful when sporting this trend; Ruffles can look very beautiful if done correctly but one needs to beware that ruffles can look bulky if overdone (i.e. too much, as top and bottom) or can make an exceptionally curvy woman look, well, fat. All in all I love ruffles!

CHRISTIAN DIOR

"Christian really outdid himself when making this beautiful ruffle skirt. In fact, the whole outfit is amazing in creamy neutrals. The over-the-knee boots are still big this season and I simply J'ADORE DIOR!"

YSL

"Another fabulous ruffle jacket seen on YSL fall 2010 runway show. I also love the sheer pants!"

SWEATER DRESSING

"Sweater dresses and sweater details are huge this season. My favorite! The sweater headbands seen in the Prada fashion shows this season. I cannot wait to try this trend!"

CHRISTIAN DIOR

"The way the sweater detail is combined with the ruffle detail in this look is ultra sweet. I love the socks and the side braid is so lovely!!"

LOUIS VUITTON

"Oh LV, how I die for the....What an adorable sweater detailed ensemble. So feminine, especially neat with all of the models' hair pulled back tightly with sort of 1950's pretty girl charm. Loved the ponytails!"

PRADA

"Prada did sweaters right! with structuring done by adding belts to accentuate women's curves right at the waist and in all the right places! I love the etched details on the sweater and the leggings, to die for!"

PRADA

"I love this powder blue with black, so classic and beautiful"

PRADA

"Oh more sweater leggings with fur details!!! yum!!"

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

"The sweater trend was also seen on the Ferragamo runway with leather which is another fall trend to commend! oh and the suede boots...."

OUTWEAR

I love outwear, it completes an outfit and makes one look polished. This season's outwear consists of plenty of fur (sorry PETA), leather and the trench in full action. The military look still standing tall, details and variations were seen across the runways." Buy a trench coat this season in camel or creamy neutrals, red, military green or gray! pair a plain or old coat with a camel belt for eye-catching detail and to make it "new looking". It's never too early to buy a coat seeing as all the cute ones always go fast, especially in MI....

CHANEL

"Fur-licious from head to toe at Chanel!"

MARC JACOBS

"I absolutely have to say that Marc is one of the top 3 of my favorite designers. The fur, metalic and tweed like combo seen here on this coat is so so glamorous!"

FERRAGAMO

"I love trench coats! especially in creamy neutrals"

PRADA

"Leather and so beautiful with the fur detailed stockings/leggings"

LADYLIKE

Act like a lady! Ladylike is back and the feminine, soft details seen throughout the runway make me so happy because dressing ladylike is a big part of my personal style. Bows, and soft edges in hues are adorable.

CHANEL

"Ladylike seen at CHANEL in camel."

CHANEL

"What a lady! in a tweed dress with plenty of detail and fur boots, bag."

DOLCE AND GABBANA

"D&G portray the lady in soft creamy neutrals, past the knee skirts and handle bags"

LOUIS VUITTON

"My absolute favorite runway show this season, so polished with past the knee skirts, rich detailed fabrics and belted at the waist!"

LOUIS VUITTON

"Long live lady Louis, my fav dress from the collection."

MARC JACOBS

"THIS DRESS, featured in his latest fall ads caught my eye and then ended up seeing it on an actress. I have no words to describe the elegant ladylike simplicity. It looks so delicate and the glimmering detail of the bow are just, well I'm speechless!"

MARC JACOBS

"Marc does ladylike again, this man is a genius in my opinion"

YVES SAINT LAURENT

"YSL uses darker colors but still ladylike with the longer length skirt and ofcourse the beautiful belts and chains seen throughout the show...so fun!"

MILITARY

Im still loving the military look and Im not ready to retire my buttoned jackets just yet. It looks like designers feel the same this season!

CHANEL

"Chanel does a military sheik look"

RETRO

RETRO: EVER WONDER WHAT RETRO REALLY MEANS? Well the word retro is actually derived from the latin prefix retro meaning "backwards" or "in past times". Its a culturally outdated or aged type of style revived by none other than some of these favorites of mine this season!!!

PRADA

"So beautiful, I believe Katherine Heigel wore this dress in a recent photoshoot. Retro done right!"

PRADA

"More prada retro, red and black with fur detail"

PRADA

"RETRO and more importantly in fall print. Sort of reminds me of falling leaves and a beautiful Autumn day!"

PRADA

"Prada seen with more than one trend, retro, camel, sweater and skinny belts. I adore the blue touch!"

CHANEL

"So rich. Loved this retro look from Chanel. Red, yum!"

ANIMAL PRINTS

Animal prints are warm and trendy but we need to be careful not to look straight out of the jungle. Dont pair more than one animal print at a time. You will risk looking tacky. That being said, I actually really like pairing one animal print in different colors such as a red leopard print with a classic leopard print.

ETRO

"Love this leopard jacket from ETRO"

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

"Salvatore is wild !"

HERMES

"You get the idea! a touch of animal prints is always classy"

OTHER TRENDS

Some other trends which I also like include the safari look, cocktail, red carpet as well as metallics and embellishments (always in style as far as I'm concerned!!!)

DOLCE AND GABBANA

"Cocktail, love the rose detail in black!"

ETRO

"I saw these dresses and fell in LOVE with the ethnic inspired look with a red carpet feel!!"

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO

"Metalic detail on top, yes!"

BLAMAIN

"SUPER SHINY and gorgeous metallics by Blamain!"

MARC JACOBS

"2 of my favorite things at once, Marc and embellishments....yum!"

YSL

"Brights paired with camels and neutrals are great together. Also sheer pieces were seen this season as well. I have to admit that I'm a sucker for sheer and brights."

HALEBOB

"I know I didn't include much velvet in my trend report but it is BIG this season and I love it!. This dress is my latest obsession by Halebob, it has velvet and embroidery and it's so beautiful"
